A HEIC file converter for everyday iPhone photos
An iPhone photo can look perfectly normal in Photos but arrive on your computer with a .heic extension. HEIC stores pictures efficiently, yet some websites, printers and older applications still expect JPG. This HEIC to JPG converter gives you a broadly supported copy for those situations, without asking you to send your photos to an online processing server.
Add a photo or a batch of HEIC and HEIF files. A browser-side decoder reads the picture, then Canvas saves it as a JPG. Each successful conversion has a preview and a download button. When you have several results, Download all as ZIP bundles them together so you do not have to save every picture separately.
This is a still-photo conversion tool, not an archive of every feature in an Apple photo. Live Photo motion, depth information, HDR appearance and camera metadata are not preserved. For files containing multiple images, the first decoded still image is used. Keep the original HEIC if you need those features or want to edit the original photo later.
HEIC files come in different variants, and the local decoder cannot read every one. An unsupported or damaged file shows its own error while other photos can still finish. Large images also use device memory during decoding. For an unusually demanding batch, try fewer photos at a time or use a computer with more available memory.

How to convert HEIC to JPG in your browser
- 1
Choose HEIC or HEIF photos from your device, or drop a batch into the file area. Other file types are skipped with a clear message.
- 2
Wait while the converter decodes the photos one at a time. Keep the page open; closing it stops the local conversion.
- 3
Inspect each JPG preview and its output size. If a file reports an unsupported variant, export that photo as JPG in your Photos application instead.
- 4
Download individual JPG images, or download all successful conversions in a ZIP. Save the original HEIC files separately if you need their extra photo information.
Useful features for changing HEIC photos to JPG
Batch conversion
Choose several photos in one selection. Images are decoded sequentially to reduce simultaneous memory pressure, and a failed photo does not prevent the rest of the batch from running.
JPG preview
See the converted still picture before saving. Check orientation and appearance, particularly if the original uses HDR or contains additional photo information beyond the main image.
ZIP download
Collect successful JPG results in a single archive. The archive is assembled on your device, and you can still download any result individually.
No photo uploads
Decoding and JPG encoding run inside the browser. The converter does not send your image contents to a server or require a photo storage account.
Clear compatibility limits
Unsupported HEIC variants show an error rather than a pretend success. JPG conversion is intended for still-image sharing, not preserving Live Photo motion or original camera metadata.
When a JPG copy is the right choice
- Attach an iPhone picture to a form that lists JPG as its accepted image format.
- Send family photos to someone whose computer or photo viewer does not open HEIC.
- Prepare still photos for an older image editor or a print service that needs JPG files.
- Convert photos before adding them to JPG to PDF for a simple image-based document.
Frequently asked questions
Is this HEIC file converter free?
Yes. You can convert supported HEIC and HEIF photos without paying, signing up or installing a desktop converter. Practical batch size depends on your device memory.
Will the JPG have exactly the same quality?
Not necessarily. JPG uses lossy compression, and HDR appearance can change during decoding. Keep the original HEIC for archiving and inspect the JPG before using it for important work.
Are location and camera details preserved?
No. The Canvas-generated JPG does not preserve the original photo metadata. Do not rely on the converted file to retain capture dates, camera settings or location information.
Can I convert Live Photos or image sequences?
The tool saves the first decoded still image. It does not preserve motion, audio, depth maps or an entire image sequence. Export those separately from your Photos application.
What should I do if a HEIC photo fails?
Try a smaller batch and check that the file opens in Photos. If it still fails, use Photos to export a JPG copy; the browser decoder may not support that HEIC variant.
